Deb Martinek grew up in rural Ohio before traipsing out west and living in central Oregon for seven-ish years. She married Ben in 2008 and upon becoming a card-carrying member of the CDL club (read more about those adventures here), they moved to Bismarck relatively sight unseen. After serving for 13 years as the Director of Faith Formation at the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit in Bismarck, wherein she and Rachel Wingenbach built up 3 Levels of Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, Deb is excited to make the shift to the Christ the King team and grow in her understanding of Montessori educational philosophy. Both of her daughters have attended Christ the King since they were 3 years old, and Ben serves on the school board.
She has a bachelor’s degree from Ball State University and a master’s degree from the Franciscan University of Steubenville. In 2014, she finished a rigorous fertility awareness internship and has taught engaged couples since then, in addition to serving as a lead couple on pre-marriage weekend seminars for the Bismarck Diocese. Deb completed formation in all three levels of CGS from 2020-2023 and has served as a catechist in each for the past 6 years at the Cathedral.
Spending time with her family on epic camping/road trips or sailboat adventures fills her love tank. She enjoys reading extensive novels, solving 1000-piece jigsaw puzzles, working in her kitchen where she can serve love to the people in her life through quality food, and now making her house a home in Mandan (just up the hill from the school!)
